Upon arrival in Yangon, meet your tour representative. Depart by private car on your sightseeing tour of Yangon, the former capital city of Myanmar (Burma).

Located in the fertile delta of Southern Myanmar, Yangon has an abundance of lush parks, peaceful lakes and historic architecture. Head for downtown Yangon for an architectural heritage walk through this unique area where many of the city’s colonial-era buildings still stand. Discover some of Asia’s most impressive collections of late 19th and early 20th century architecture, both religious and secular. Follow your guide at a relaxed pace through Yangon’s back streets while learning about the history of each structure – some vacant and some being restored to the full beauty of their original construction. Discover the many facets of this vibrant city, including markets, colonial buildings and lovely lakes, visiting City Hall, Independence Monument at the Mahar Bandula Park near Sule Pagoda, the Court Office and the Customs House, located along the Strand Road where most colonial buildings stand today as colonial heritage sites. Thanks to the protection of the Yangon Heritage Trust, many of downtown’s colonial buildings have survived despite decades of decay.

Continue to Chauk Htut Kyi Buddha Image (Reclining Buddha Image) and end your day with a visit to the magnificent, 2600 year old Shwedagon Pagoda at sunset. During this interactive walking tour, discover what lies behind the golden façade of Shwedagon Pagoda. Gain insight into the Buddhist religion mixed with Burmese spiritual beliefs as you provide offerings to the monks and even visit a local fortune-teller! After breakfast, check out from your hotel and transfer to the airport. Catch the morning flight to Bagan. Upon arrival in Bagan, meet your tour representative. Depart on your guided tour of Bagan.

No holiday to Myanmar would be complete without a visit to the temple-studded plains of Bagan. With over 4000 temples, the sheer number of ancient structures is at once baffling and awe-inspiring. Travel by car with a local guide through Bagan, and discover some of the most renowned temples in the area. Climb to a hilltop pagoda for an impressive panoramic view before making your way to some of the other amazing temples that have existed in Bagan for hundreds of years. Temples such as – Shwezigon Pagoda, Gubyaukgyi Temple, Ananda Temple and Oakkyaung are sure to impress, and may even become your favorites. Your guide will explain the history surrounding the temples visited and the significance of their existence. Afternoon visit to a lacquerware workshop then on to the Myinkaba Cultural Village in the early evening where you can see the traditional looming and handcrafting.

Rising 1,518 metres from the plains of Central Burma, Mount Popa is considered the sacred home of the spirits and is about a two hour drive from Bagan. Visit a palm village along the way to gain an insight into how palm sugar (jaggery) is produced. Continue to Mount Popa and visit Taung Kalat, the temple which sits atop like a plug in the volcano and holds significance in Myanmar’s history and religion. The monastery is home to the 37 nats (spirits) of Myanmar, which are displayed at the base of the temple. The views from atop are incredible and may reach as far as Bagan on a clear day. Continue to the colourful old religious centre of Salay – home to a large number of monasteries and colonial buildings. Visit Yoke-Sone-Kyaung, which was built in 1882 and is nowadays a cultural heritage site. Situated on the eastern bank of the Ayeyarwaddy River, the monastery is famous for its spectacular wood carvings.

Return to Bagan in the late afternoon. Evening sightseeing with E-bike riding includes Gubyaukgyi Temple (Myinkaba), Nanphaya Temple. The massive Dhammayangyi temple the largest structure in Bagan, Sulamani Temple, Htilominlo Temple. The Final Sightseeing at Shwe Sandaw Pagoda; follow the steps up to one of the high terraces for a great view out over the plains. It is the perfect location to watch the sun set over Old Bagan and the Ayeyarwaddy River to the west – a worthy ending to an intriguing journey through time.

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and transfer to Nyaung Oo Airport. Catch the morning flight to Mandalay. Upon arrival, meet your tour representative and depart on your guided tour of Mandalay, the former royal capital in northern Myanmar (Burma) on the Ayeyarwaddy River. Mandalay is home to some 1.3 million people and remains the economic, cultural and religious heart of upper Myanmar. In its centre is the restored Mandalay Palace from the Konbaung Dynasty, surrounded by a moat. Mandalay Hill provides views of the city from its summit, which is reached by covered stairway.

Travel to Mingun on a half-day cruise upstream along the Ayeyarwaddy River. After arriving in Mingun, visit the local temple where King Bodawpaya began construction of a stupa in 1790 that, if it had been completed, would have been one of the tallest in the world. Gaze in wonder at visible cracks in the structure left from the 1839 earthquake, and see the enormous Mingun Bell that weighs roughly 90 tons, ancient ruins of the world’s largest lion statues; Mya Thein Tan Pagoda.

Return to Mandalay and visit the Exalted Saint Buddha Image heavily gilded with gold leaf brought over from Arakan State in 1784. Drive to your selected hotel and check in on arrival. Afternoon visit Kuthodaw Pagoda that houses hundreds of Buddhist-scripture-inscribed marble slabs, Shwe Kyaung (Golden Monastery), Kyauktawgyi Pagoda (Huge Buddha image) and enjoy panoramic sunset views at Mandalay Hill. Overnight in Mandalay.

Amarapura, Ava and Sagaing are all former capitals of the old kingdom of Myanmar. After breakfast start with a visit to Amarapura, the 18th century capital where the country’s largest monastery, Maha Ghandayon, is located. Continue to the magnificent teak bridge of U Bein, which is over 200 years old and the longest teak bridge in the world. Cross the Ayeyarwaddy River and head for the picturesque Sagaing Hill. The area houses an incredible number of pagodas and monasteries, all painted white. It is regarded to as a religious centre in Myanmar and is home to over 3,000 monks and 100 meditation centres.

End the day with a visit to another ancient capital, Ava, which was the capital of Myanmar before Amarpura. Board a horse carriage and ride to the wooden Bagaya Monastery and the remains of the Royal Palace. Return to Mandalay in the late afternoon. Overnight at your hotel.

Transfer to Mandalay Airport after breakfast and catch the morning flight to Heho. Upon arrival, meet your tour representative and enjoy a scenic hour long drive to Myanmar’s second largest lake, Inle, which has a surface area of seventy square kilometres. Nestled amidst hazy blue mountains and located at an altitude of 900 metres, this beautiful lake is also one of the highest in the country, with a cool climate and exceptional flora and fauna. On arrival, check in at your selected hotel.
Enjoy a boat trip on the lake and observe the beautiful surroundings visiting Phaung DawOo Pagoda (Holy 5 Buddha Images), Floating Gardens & Plantation, Cheroot Making, Silversmith, Cotton & Silk Hand Weaving and Nga Phe Chaung Monastery (Jumping Cats). Return to and overnight at your hotel.

Transfer back to Heho Airport after breakfast for your flight to Yangon. Upon arrival meet your tour representative and transfer to your selected hotel. You are at leisure to relax, go shopping at the Bogyoke Market and Chinatown area or explore on your own. Overnight at your hotel.
