Guangzhou, also known as Canton, is a modern, vigorous metropolis located in south-central Guangdong Province, north of the Pearl River Delta. It is the third largest city in China and is the political, economic, technological, educational and cultural hub of southern China. It lies close to the South China Sea, Hong Kong and Macau. The Pearl River, the third longest river in China runs through the city and is navigable to the South China Sea. These geographical features bestow the name “South Gate of China” upon the city.

Today’s city tour visits the scenic Yue Xiu Park with its Zhen Hai building and Five Ram statues is popular for cultural recreation and was recently nominated as one of the ten best scenic parks in China. Continue to Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street, a commercial street in Liwan District that features unique and ancient architecture of Tong Lau and teahouses, reflecting both European and Chinese influences.

This evening enjoy a leisurely and romantic cruise on the Pearl River. Originating from Baietan, the boat sails east to Guangzhou Bridge and south to Baihe Cave and offers a breathtaking view of the city with millions of lights of the city and colorfully-decorated lanterns shining along the river banks. Early breakfast and transfer by road to Shenzhen, located in southern Guangdong Province. Shenzhen’s close proximity to the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong led to her phenomenal development since 1980 when the first Special Economic Zone of China was built here.

Check into your selected hotel. Later, visit the Window of the World, a theme park where you can view just about all of the world’s major attractions. Take dinner this evening at a local restaurant. Overnight at your hotel (B/D)
